Awards

Home Media Magazine is proud to announce the Fourth Annual Latino DVD Awards, presented in conjunction with the Latino DVD 5 Conference, held Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at the InterContinental Hotel & Resorts in Los Angeles.

Winners will be determined by a panel of DVD-industry critics. There is no entry fee for sponsors of the conference; for all others, the entry fee is $100 per title, per category. There is no limit on the number of entries.

We will honor Latino DVD releases that came to market in calendar year 2007, focusing on the entire DVD treatment: sound and picture, menu design, ease of use, navigation, bonus materials, packaging, etc.

We ask suppliers and producers to nominate entries in the following 9 categories:
  • Best Theatrical DVD
  • Best Nontheatrical DVDBest Classic
  • Best Children’s DVD
  • Best TV DVD
  • Best Music DVD
  • Best Boxed Set/Collector’s Edition
  • Best Packaging
  • Best Special Features/Bonus Material
In addition to the announced categories, a Best of Show will be chosen from among all the submissions. You do not need to submit your film into the Best of Show category. All entries will automatically be considered.

Please return the entry form, entry fee (non sponsors only) and 10 finished-product copies of each submission to:

Angelique Flores
Home Media Magazine
201 Sandpointe Avenue, Suite 500
Santa Ana, CA 92707

The deadline is Friday, Feb. 15. Titles received after this date may not be eligible for consideration. For entries from nonsponsors, please make checks payable to Home Media Magazine, and be sure to note Latino DVD 5 Awards in the reference line and send to Angelique Flores along with your product copies to the address above.

Winners will be announced April 8 at the Latino DVD 5 Conference.

Winning DVD suppliers will receive camera-ready artwork so they can produce stickers heralding their title’s selection as a 2007 Latino DVD Award winner. For more information, contact Angelique Flores at 714/338-6752 or e-mail aflores@questex.com.

Award Guidelines:
What is a Latino film?

To qualify as a Latino DVD entry, the title must be produced in a Latin-American country or Spain, or it must have a strong Latino theme. It can be in either English or Spanish.

Note: A film that has one Latino name attached does not make it a Latino film.

Definitions of each category:

  • Theatrical — films that have been released in theaters
  • Nontheatrical — direct-to-video programming
  • Classic Film — older, classic films, such as those from Mexico’s Golden Age of Cinema
  • Children’s — children’s programming
  • TV DVD — novelas, TV series, miniseries, films and anything else that aired on TV
  • Music DVD — concert DVD, documentary or video compilation on a Latino musical artist
  • Packaging — this is not about the content but about the packaging of the set, i.e., the box it comes in, the art design on the cover, etc.,…
  • Boxed Set/Collector’s Edition — multidisc sets of films or compilations of films. Judging is based on the entire set of programs
  • Special Feature/Bonus Material — extras such as interviews, featurettes, deleted scenes, commentaries, etc.
